He sees us!

She had lost her husband and now her only son. She is broken and weeping. Life is desperate. And then we read: “Jesus saw the woman”.

He saw her! And his gut was moved with compassion.

I never tire of reading these words.

Jesus sees the desperate, young Palestinian woman, who has lost her two dearly loved kids.

Jesus sees her. Do I?

Jesus’ gut is moved with compassion. Is mine?

Jesus sees the desperate, grieving old man. His wife has passed. His family always busy, he so alone.

Jesus sees him. Do I?

Jesus’ gut is moved with compassion. Is mine?

Jesus sees the desperate Afghani teenager, lost between two worlds, and stung each day by racist remarks.

Jesus sees her. Do I?

Jesus’ gut is moved with compassion. Is mine?

Jesus sees the desperate, tired business leader. Trying to keep up appearances, as the black dog bites.

Jesus sees him. Do I?

Jesus’ gut is moved with compassion. Is mine?

Jesus sees the desperate, pained young man. Navigating his personal gender journey and reading what some Christians have to say about him.

Jesus sees him. Do I?

Jesus’ gut is moved with compassion. Is mine?

Thank you Jesus, that you see me, that your heart is moved with compassion.

Open my eyes Jesus. Soften my heart Jesus.

Help me see more like you. Help me love more like you.
